Director of Athletics and Facilities
Hello! My name is Kelly Matejka, and I am honored to serve as Holy Cross Christian Academy’s Director of Facilities and Athletics. Many of you know me as “Mr. Matejka,” the husband of our wonderful Head of School, Karen Matejka, but my connection to Holy Cross began long before that.
More than 35 years ago, my twin daughters began their journey at HCCA as preschoolers. Since then, I have had the privilege of supporting Holy Cross through many seasons, and one thing has remained constant: God’s faithful provision for this school and the people who serve here. After a 37-year career in electronics manufacturing and logistics leadership, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Holy Cross full-time and help steward the campus and athletic program for future generations.
Athletics have always been a significant part of my life. From playing multiple sports in high school to coaching girls’ fastpitch softball for ten years and founding a select travel volleyball program, I have seen firsthand how sports can develop character, perseverance, teamwork, and faith. I am especially excited to help grow HCCA Athletics while encouraging students to pursue excellence both on and off the field.
Away from campus, my greatest joy is my family. Karen and I are blessed with twin daughters, Kelsey Havins and Kasey Barber, and four wonderful grandchildren. Two of our granddaughters are now carrying on the family tradition as Holy Cross students, making this ministry especially meaningful to us. I also enjoy traveling (I’ve visited all 50 states and 18 countries!), finding a good Mexican restaurant, and, admittedly, drinking more Diet Dr Pepper than I probably should.
Students will quickly discover that I’m not nearly as intimidating as I may seem. I believe in encouraging students, challenging them to grow, and helping them become the people God has created them to be.
I look forward to partnering with our families and helping every Warrior grow in character, faith, and sportsmanship. Go Warriors!
